SPOTLIGHT PETS

MiMi This little girl is all bark and no bite. She tries to act all macho in her kennel as she "defends her territory", but once you let her out, this sweet little girl melts in your arms! Mimi is a small female rat terrier mix and an absolute cutie pie. She will even roll over on command! She walks great on a leash and doesn't mind other dogs. Mimi would love to be someones little lap dog and bring them years of joy. Please stop by today and see if she is just the little heartbeat your missing!

GLACIER is a gorgeous, sweet boy, almost pure white with just a brush of greyish black on the top of his head! He is not only full of good looks either; he is actually more than meets the eye, at first glance, that is.

Glacier is a polydactyl - a many-toed cat, also know as a Hemingway cat as Ernest Hemingway had many of them. These many-toed cats which appear to be wearing mittens, or a catcher's glove, warm the hearts of those families fortunate enough to share a home with them. Glacier is extra, extra special as he has not six, not seven, but EIGHT TOES on one foot!

When Glacier 1st arrived at CAS it seemed he had not seen the best side of human nature, as it appeared that he had either been shot or burned. He had a deep wound on the top of his head, but thanks to the excellent care of Dr. Coleman and the TLC he received from his foster mom, he is now better than new.

He is absolutely one of the sweetest kitties ever and he loves to wrestle and play with toys and humans alike - but ever so gently! Any home that adds him to their family will not only get an extra-toed cat, but extra love as well! How about making that family yours?

Donate a Bed We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. Not all of our kennels have permanent beds, so the Kuranda beds help keep our dogs warmer when they sleep off the cold concrete floor during the winter months. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.

    Who We Are

Collierville Animal Services is an animal care and control agency that assumes a unique role in the community by promoting, motivating, and enforcing responsible pet ownership. Animal Services takes in about 1600 stray, abandoned, misplaced and unwanted animals each year. It spays/neuters every animal adopted. It investigates animal cruelty and abuse, and enforces animal control laws in Collierville. It provides a comprehensive pet adoption service and has an approximately 80% adoption rate.

    Helping Hands

With so many animals and so few staff, our volunteers are of great value. We have both a volunteer and jr. volunteer program, both of which make running the shelter easier. We are always in need of new people willing to donate their time to help us care for the animals. In order to become a volunteer you must be of at least 12 years of age and go through volunteer training. Those age 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult at trainging and while working. You can sign up for training by visiting or calling our shelter at the number listed at the bottom.
    Several different jobs that volunteers can help out with are;

    Dog walkers

How would you feel being couped up in a cage all day? We need people willing to take our dogs out to the play yard or for a walk. Puppies especially need the extra exercise and playtime!

    Cat Cuddlers

Once again, cats don't like to be stuck in their cage all day. Wether you let them out and play with them, or just sit with them in your lap and pet them, its greatly appreciate by both staff and lonely cats alike.

    Groomers

Our animals are always in need of a brush or bath or their nails clipped. We need a dog groomer and cat groomer that can come in regularly to help out by keeping our animals smelling and looking nice.

    Greeters

With our staff and volunteers being so busy behind the scenes cleaning and such, we need someone to stay up front and greet people that come in and answer the phone when people have basic questions.

    Off-site Workers

We have many offsite adoptions and need help working them. We visit places like Three-Dog-Bakery, Hollywood Feed, and many festivals, fairs, and Expos.

    Camp Counselors

Our shelter is very privleged in that it is one of very few animal shelters that runs a kids camp during school breaks. This job is for the Jr. Volunteers and they are able to work at the camp without an adult.

    Gardeners

We do have a beautiful landscape, but its hard to keep up with. If you love to garden and do yard work, we'd love to have you on board to keep the facilities grounds looking beautiful and welcoming!

    Cleaning Crew

We are often complimented about how our shelter doesn't smell. The only reason why is we are constantly cleaning up after then. We are in desperate need of people to come help clean kennels and cages in the mornings and evenings. Without help our shelter will begin to smell, which isn't very appealing to customers.

These are just a few of many ways you can help us help the animals!!!

    Adopting a friend

It is not Animal Service's intent to make pet ownership seem inexpensive or unrealistically easy. Our goal is to attract responsible pet owners, and to help them provide permanent, loving homes. To that extent, we ask you to give serious thought to the responsibilities of pet ownership. The following general adoption policies have been established: (1) A person adopting an animal must be 21 years of age or older or have a parent or guardian present; (2) Adoptions will be refused to anyone suspected of using an animal for illegal purposes, such as dog fighting; (3) All prospective new pet owners will be screened to help insure compatibility between pet and owner; (4) Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis; (5) An adopted pet may be returned within the first 72 hours after adoption, for an exchange only - no refunds will be given. Adoption of animals as surprise gifts is strongly discouraged. We suggest that individuals select their own pet. Gift certificates are available for that purpose.

The adoption fee is $85.00, and includes pet spaying/neutering, heartworm testing (adult dogs), Feline Leukemia & Feline Aids testing, de-worming of puppies and kittens, micro-chipping, and preventative inoculations.
